New Book — Heroes & Lovers

Heroes & Lovers (or Heroic Lovers) 英雄兒女 by Dugu Hong 獨孤紅. Originally published in 1970. The title refers to a saying: 英雄氣短，兒女情長。(Heroism is fleeting, but love [lit. between man & woman] is forever). When a hero undergoes a setback he might lose heart, get discouraged, but when two people are in love, they are inseperable.

Unknown Flute – Wolong Sheng

Unknown Flute《無名簫》by Wolong Sheng 臥龍生. Published in 1961, concurrently with his other famous novel Heavenly Whirlwind. He was also still working on Jade Hairpin Oath at the time. Unknown Flute is regarded as one of his major works, though it is rarely talked about, overshadowed by the other two novels. This reprint edition is relatively hard to find nowadays, though the text of the novel is available online through many sources.

Kung Fu — Giddens Ko

Kung Fu《功夫》by Giddens Ko 九把刀. 2004 Gaea Books edition. My particular volume is the 24th printing, 2008. A junior high school student who loves wuxia novels is taught martial arts by a mysterious old man. There is a fan translation of this, by Deathblade, on spcnet.tv. I also scanned the illustrations in the book.
